T-Ball Celebration

On Thursday, June 27th the Homewood Heights Baseball & Softball Club’s Inaugural T-ball season was topped off with a celebration and medals for the kids. What started off as a very ambitious endeavor months ago, became a great experience for 70 plus kids and families.

On this day, we congratulated the young players on learning the skills of batting, catching, throwing, running bases and good sportsmanship. These are all qualities of our Homewood Heights Way. Early success for our children is so key, and Homewood Heights Baseball & Softball invested in them, giving them this season free of charge. Although some kids and families could not make it, we had a great turnout for this affair. After pizza, cookies, pop and fun with their teammates, the kids were gathered together in front of the ball club shield for a ceremony.

Brian Andreatta, President, and T-Ball Director, Jaclin Ewers, posed for a lovely photo with the T-ball players. Next, Mr. Andreatta gave an appreciative speech for the coaches, parents and players of this inaugural season. He also presented Mrs. Ewers with a baseball signed by the coaches, saying “I don’t know how this all could’ve happened without your dedication.” She did an excellent job of working with coaches, adjusting schedules due to so much rain, keeping parents involved, and making sure every kid had fun. In response, Jaclin thanked her husband Brian Ewers for his support, the ball club, Mr. Andreatta, and everyone involved. She said “This season was nothing short of amazing. Our Homewood Heights family is like no other…we practice together, we support each other, and all work as a team. One league. One family.”

Following that, the group split into their teams for coaches to present them with shiny medals and to take team photos. The T-ball league fielded eight teams: The Avengers, Batmen, Black Panthers, Captain Americans, Daredevils, Hawkeyes, Hulks and Spidermen. These were co-ed teams, coached by men and women who have played and currently coach the sport at a high level. The vision of the league is to teach kids the proper techniques and strategies of the game from their beginnings and going forward.

Next up is T-Ball Camp in mid-July and Fall Ball T-Ball after Labor Day. Homewood Heights is the first program in this area to offer this to kids. An important point is that when we see a kid ready for pitching, we immediately begin “coach pitch” for them.As a backdrop, Homewood Heights Baseball & Softball was founded in late 2017 and has grown exceptionally by offering logical and meaningful programs to the area with varying channels for players to play baseball and softball. We are excited about our growth and plans for Fall 2019 and beyond.
